The Department of Higher Mathematics was founded in 1966.

It is a part of interfaculty departments.

When the institute was founded (1931), a general education faculty was created, which included physics and mathematics, chemistry, statistics and accounting faculties. The Faculty of Physics and Mathematics was established in 1933 in accordance with the Charter of the Central Asian Financial Institute. Before the Great Patriotic War, the department was headed by senior lecturer I.L. Toropov and associate professor Solovyov, during the war years associate professors S.A. Lerman, V.Kh. Teshabaeva. In the postwar years, the department was headed by associate professors A.P. Zavarin and I.Ya. Kasara. In 1966, on the basis of the department, the departments "Physics" and "Higher Mathematics" were created.

Since 1985, associate professors have worked as the head of the department "Higher Mathematics": Mamashev S.Kh, Tursunkulov T.T and Chorshanbaev I.Ch.

From 1985 to 1995 The department was headed by candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Toshov N.

In 1995, the Department of Higher Mathematics was renamed the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Mechanics, which until 1997 was headed by Bolibekov U.B.

Since 2020, the department has been renamed the department of "Higher Mathematics" and to the present, Associate Professor Karshibaev Kh.K. works as the head of the department.
